Based in Saskatoon, and born and raised in Southwest Saskatchewan, Desirae Fritzke is a visual artist working primarily in oil and acrylic.
Her latest body of work is inspired by nature, moons, vivid skies, mountains, forests, van life, and summer vibes. Her landscapes are abstracted, full of colour, and contain bold, gestural strokes, rendering the essence and memory of a place rather than an accurate visual depiction. Although the natural world is her muse, she also draws technical inspiration from other Canadian landscape painters such as Nicholas Bott, Alec Blair, Becky Luth, and of course, the Group of Seven.
Desirae completed her B.F.A. in Studio Art from the University of Saskatchewan in 2015. Her art practice throughout the last decade is multidisciplinary and exists inside and outside of the painting studio. She enjoys sewing, drawing, and printmaking in her everyday life.
